El Spähpanzer Ru 251 es un tanque ligero alemán propuesto para reemplazar al M41 Walker Bulldog.
El Ru 251 está basado en el cazacarros Kanonenjagdpanzer y utiliza el mismo cañón principal Rheinmetall BK 90/L40 de 90 mm.
El Ru 251 poseía una movilidad notable gracias a su motor Daimler-Benz MB 837 A de 650 CV, pero carecía de una protección antitanque significativa. En 1964, el prototipo del Ru 251 se sometió a intensas pruebas operativas, al tiempo que se preparaba para la producción en serie el tanque de batalla principal Leopard 1, con su cañón de 105 mm.

The Spähpanzer Ru 251 was a german light tank proposed to replace the american M41 Walker Bulldog.
The Ru 251 was based off the kanonenjagdpanzer tank destroyer end even uses the same Rheinmetall Bk 90/L49 90 mm cannon. It Possesed a notoriors mobility thanks to the Daimler-Benz Mb 837 A engine with a 650 hp it used, but it lacked in significant antitank protecction.
On 1964 the Ru 251 prototype was tested intensively in various operative tests, at the same time the mass production of the more advanced and promsing main battle tank Leopard 1 with it's 105 mm cannon was getting prepared.
